7 Months (Don’t Believe It!)

A birthday party to remember.

Phoenix Rising

How is it when, through significant hardships, you find yourself in a state of mind that sees all as Divine Grace?

What a state! As I complete the final chemo treatment - with the intense fatigue, toxic brain fog, emotional and cognitive dysfunction, finding nutrition where I can, making the oversized beanbag in Idyllwild my home for a few days - I start to notice things.

  1. A family member donates enough for me to relax and receive new treatments.

  2. My weeklong spiritual convocation begins as I recover; perfect timing to renew me.

  3. Kind friends give me food that I can prepare even with fatigue.

  4. Children seek me out to play with. Friends offer me their treatment services. My cat attaches himself to my chest as I sleep, healing me with purrs and presence.

  5. Friends send me new treatments to recover from chemo.

  6. My coaches and teachers make it possible for me to do training and coaching that will support creating a legacy healing and service project.

  7. The universe begins speaking with me directly: supplying everything I need.

According to Greek tradition, the Phoenix lives for 500 years. Only one Phoenix is alive at a time. The bird builds a nest and sets itself on fire when its life cycles. From its ashes, a young Phoenix is born.

This allegory speaks to me of rebirth and immortality, but also of rebirth within a single incarnation. I’m always speaking these words: I, Shannon, am Healed, Healthy and Strong, through my 60’s and beyond!

I am living into Radical Remission, a term coined by researcher and author Dr. Kelly Turner as she studied folks who cleared themselves of all disease in spite of a terminal medical diagnosis. A friend of mine once spoke to Deepak Chopra, who told him all those who experienced spontaneous remission had one thing in common: they experienced (not just knew) themselves as Divine Energy, creating a change in a quantum state, corresponding to a jump to "a new level of consciousness that prohibits the existence of cancer". Anita Moorjani, a famous case of spontaneous remission, writes about this directly, and Dr. Joe Dispenza teaches this practice in a powerful and more secular way.

My life now is centered around an intention to create a deep surrender to and experience of God to enter into this state myself. In the past, this has often been troubled by the turmoil of thought and habit. To counteract this, I place my practice of meditation as primary. I focus on the present moment, both as a spiritual practice and as an effective strategy against anxiety. The physical interventions of diet, exercise, supplements, treatments are also in flow, and yet, secondary.

I am writing a book. It is a unique teaching memoir. I am also writing a second book on how to begin a healing journey after a cancer diagnosis. Being in the flow of love and service is everything for me right now as I create these projects, and as I finally complete the work I had deferred for existing clients, while catching up on pressing worldly matters.

And, my medical numbers? They are down, the chemo reduced them. Now, high engagement with natural and energy treatments are the order of the day to detox my body, rebuild mitochondrial health, reduce inflammation and increase my body’s natural immunity system. Building the terrain - seeing what’s next both medically and otherwise. Clearing habits that don’t serve me. And always, experiencing perfection and Grace, as I inhabit, more and more, a space of the divinely miraculous.

Victories! I complete my six month contract producing the Carolyn Freyer-Jones Coaching Success School. Being able to do this while navigating my medical treatments has been a deep source of gratitude and humility. A magical moment: the class giving me a standing ovation!

Cooking a four course vegan Indian feast for our Idyllwild friends for my beloved Mark’s birthday! Presenting him with a stained glass hummingbird I made (you guessed it: friends gifted me with a class).

Will you take a minute and see me as strong, healthy and free of all disease? See me thriving, loving and serving with joy and humility! Let’s meet together in this Vision: the space of Infinite Joy and Miracles!
